Introduction to the Basics of Middle Eastern Belly Dance
Discover your inner beauty and strength through this art form of grace and beauty in a format which allows for exercise, body toning and self-expression in a relaxed atmosphere. Adjustments can be made for most physical limitations.
In this Belly Dance class we will experience a journey from the drums to techno music to wake up all the muscles. We will:
· Learn proper posture and body alignment to prevent injuries and facilitate movement.
· Utilize the large and small muscle groups to create movement (instead of using the joints)
· Improve coordination, balance, and body awareness
· Recharge memory batteries
· Explore being ourselves, in the moment, without comparison or competition.
· Release stress while having loads of fun
· Learn basic slow and fast movements, steps, and simple combinations .
ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS:
You do not have to show your belly
Experience, rhythm, coordination and partner not needed.
Bring a friend to share laughter with.
Wear work-out or yoga attire, soft sole shoes or barefoot.
